The Debt Counsellors Charitable Trust was formed in March 2014 as charity committed to providing free, independent confidential and impartial advice, information and support to people in England and Wales who are experiencing financial difficulty.

Chief Executive Officer
Nick is the Chief Executive Officer of The Debt Counsellors and was appointed to set up the charity in March 2014. Nick has some 30 years experience in the debt advice sector, having spent 25 years working in the charitable/not-for-profit debt sector. From 2008 to 2013 Nick was Director of External Affairs at Paymex Group, best known for its Baines and Ernst Debt Management brand.
The Chair of the Board of Trustees is Sara De Tute.

National Money Advice Co-ordinator at AdviceUK
David has been National Money Advice Co-ordinator at AdviceUK since January 2009. In his current role David has responsibility for AdviceUK’s money advice policy and strategy, as well as providing support to the 800+ members of the largest network of independent advice centres in the UK.
Experian’s Head of Consumer Affairs
James Jones is Experian’s Head of Consumer Affairs and leads the company’s public education programme – for example, explaining the role of Experian’s credit reference agency, what information is held, how it is used and the rights consumers have.

Nick Lord has worked in the consumer advice and advocacy field for over 30 years. He now works as a consultant on money advice and personal finance issues working with Government departments, regulators and firms.

Robert is a leading regulatory lawyer and compliance expert who has spent 30 years advising and working in the financial services and consumer credit industry. He currently holds a number of consultancy roles in the credit sector and in legal practice.

A qualified solicitor, Sara is Chief Risk Officer and Legal Counsel on the executive board of leading debt purchaser, the Lowell Group which she joined in May 2012.
